Huni Kuin Song Circle with Cacao Ceremony

We are so excited to welcome Kawá Huni Kuin (Kaxinawá) to Glastonbury and invite you to a magical Sunday afternoon of connecting to Huni Kuin culture and spirituality, a chance to open our hearts with a warm cup of cacao and sacred chants of the Amazon rainforest! Spaces are limited so please book early to avoid disappointment (for real!)

The Huni Kuin (Kaxinawá) are an ethnic group based in the lowland Amazon in the state of Acre, Brazil. They speak their own language called Hantxa Kuin and have a longstanding tradition of working with medicines of the rainforest. The Huni Kuin songs are ancient prayers invoking the forces of spirits of the forest and the sacred medicines, bringing physical, emotional and spiritual healing. Singing and listening to these ancient prayers lifts our frequency and manifests healing, transformation and joy.

In 1998 Kawá was the youngest Huni Kuin to leave his village in the forest to go to Europe. He arrived in Manchester together with his friend and anthropologist Verónica Castro with an intention to learn about life outside of the forest, how the “white people” live and to learn the English language in order to be able to represent his community to the English speaking world. He attended a small language school in Manchester, and through small local events he began to create awareness about indigenous life and traditions in the Brazilian Amazon. Nine months later, during the great fires in the Amazon he was called for a radio interview by the BBC (link below), which he delivered in English.

Kawá and his team will lead a heart opening song circle in a fun workshop format, giving all participants to learn a sacred chant, or two, and connect to the nurturing medicine of cacao from the Amazon. It's a rare blessing and opportunity to receive these precious teachings.

We’re really excited to share with you his story and to have you join our singing community with Kawá Huni Kuin as our indigenous (English speaking!) guide.

Haux, Haux!
